A month ago, the brand owned by Volvo and the Chinese Geely published the first photo of their new Polestar 3 electric SUV. According to company officials, Polestar 3 electric SUV is developed on the SPA2 platform dedicated to electric vehicles. It's the same architecture that the Volvo XC90's battery-powered successor will be built on. However, Polestar 3 electric SUV will have better market positioning.

The future premium model focusing on performance will be powered by two electric motors, each located on one axle. The new Polestar 3 electric SUV is powered by a high-capacity battery that can travel over 600 kilometers in the WLTP cycle on a single charge. The car will also be available in a version with a single electric motor and a lower range.

The model will also be capable of self-driving. The system will use a LIDAR sensor provided by Luminar and centralized computing power from Nvidia.

Officials of the Swedish brand announced that the Polestar 3 electric SUV would have prices between 75,000 and 100,000 euros. They hope to sell 24,000 units globally in 2023. They proposed to reach 67,000 units in 2024 and 77,000 the following year.

Sales of the Polestar 2 electric sedan increased by 125% to 21,200 units in the first half of 2022. This figure is almost equal to that recorded in all of 2021.
