The new Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV has piqued the curiosity of British cops. Following many inquiries from various police departments seeking a "greener" police car, Ford has now designed its own concept automobile.
Seven police departments, including the Metropolitan Police Department, have tested the Ford Mustang Mach-E or requested a comprehensive examination of a custom-built concept car.
The first concept is a four-wheel-drive Mustang Mach-E Standard Range. Ford intends to test its Long Range vehicles with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The largest battery packs will provide the police with an even longer electric range, allowing them to cover a larger region and conduct more operations.
With its lightning-fast acceleration (0 - 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds), the GT variant provides the authorities with an excellent instrument in the battle against crime. At the same time, the all-electric SUV will be one of the police force's most cost-effective and environmentally friendly vehicle types.
Ford has already devised a power solution for the concept car's blue lights, sirens, and other high-tech features.
The electrical range will stay constant because the equipment is powered by the car's 12 Volt battery rather than the propulsion batteries. According to Terry Adams, Blue Light Direct Sales Manager at Ford UK and Ireland, "further in the development of the car, we will look at the prospect of extending the battery capacity to offer the option to equip it with even more electronics."
Ford's long-term partner for emergency vehicle conversion, Safeguard SVP, completed the transformation of the first Mustang Mach-E. They outfitted the concept automobile with custom-made plates and brackets for operational servicing while causing minimum damage to the vehicle. All of the lightings are LED, which consumes extremely little electricity.
The police car's physical markings, or "uniformity," are also distinctive. For the first time, unique material is employed to increase the visibility of the police car both at night and during the day, within the limits of the appropriate regulations.
